Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required and master’s preferred
  • 3-5  years of experience teaching English, preferably in middle school
  • Ability to develop inquiry-based lessons 
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders (students and colleagues) in a warm and empathetic manner
  • Experience as a student advisor
  • Technical proficiency with demonstrated experience utilizing Zoom, Google Docs, and Google Classroom
  • Previous experience with Universal Design for Learning is desired but not required 


Primary Responsibilities

The Upper School English teacher reports directly to the Upper School Division Head and works collaboratively with core grade-level teachers to design a theme-based, enriching curriculum. The English teacher provides timely feedback to students on writing assessments and cultivates a joy for literature and literary analysis through a variety of genres.  As an advisor, the teacher helps provide connections with students and their families.
